Then
The neon lights slid off of Lianhua’s body. Her skin, usually white, had the changing lights of the karaoke screen moving along it. Her clothes were in a pile with his, only their underwear remaining.
Lianhua’s arms were softer than he expected. So was all of her. More petite, but he had expected that. It was how soft she was, how smooth her skin felt on his hands. He loved her embrace, and though the song had long moved from Fish, he found the melody wasn’t something he really was listening to in the first place.
The music didn’t matter; what he heard was the melody of her movement in his arms, the lyrics that rang in his ears were her breaths, the way she said his name in that moment.
“Mo,” she said, her lips finding his. “I should tell you something.”
“What is that?”
Lianhua paused, as though fighting to find the words.
Then the wall caved in.
