Baku Chapter 4: Peach Tree Blossoms
Then
The peach trees were not yet yielding fruit. But there were still plenty of them with their delicate blossoms that spread across the orchard for miles in any direction.
They held a delicate pink around the edges with a deeper reddish blush in the center. These trees were old, older than some towns, but still bloomed as though they were in the prime of life - because they were. The Huli Jing had long since found how to keep them young and fruitful. The trees had other cultivations. When they did yield fruit, their branches would be tall enough for human shapes to harvest, but some low enough for a fox to grab for an afternoon snack.
